Sheathings Systems

3 different methods are used for thermal insulation in buildings, namely inner wall, outer wall and sandwich wall. The best application prepared to prevent the occurrence of heat connections and to ensure the continuity of the insulation is the sheathing technique. Outer sheathing is the most ideal thermal insulation mechanism in terms of structural physics.

The sheathing technique is the process of covering the outer shell of the building with heat insulation materials in order to prevent heat loss and dividends according to the seasonal conditions. It is the thermal insulation method applied to the outer surface of the structure in order to reach the essential heat emission equivalent without creating a heat connection.

Advantages of Sheathing:

The benefits of sheathing for structure and people can be listed as follows:

Condensation risk is minimized. It provides both heat and water insulation. Condensation and atmospheric movement do not occur in the buildings where sheathing is applied as the heat dissipates stably, providing a comfortable living environment.

It protects outer walls of the building and the equipment inside against abrasion and ensures the extension of the building resistance. It helps to preserve the environment as it reduces the fuel consumption to a small amount. An appropriately applied sheathing system provides up to 50% heat increase.

The outer walls of the building are protected from all the effects of the outer environment. Turning the structure from the outside like a mantle, it prevents diaclases and damages that may occur due to temperature separations in the basic material. Summer and winter temperature separations occurring on the outer wall sections increase to 5 degrees. It prevents heat connections by completely isolating ferrous concrete structure materials such as all kinds of support parts, columns and fasteners on the outer surface of the structure.

In which Areas The Sheathing is Applied:

The sheathing can be applied to the outer wall areas of the structures, to the roofs, to the ground-connected areas, to the floors dividing the apartments, to areas such as depot and garage which cannot be brought to warm condition, and to cold storage depots.

How Long does The Sheathing Process Take:

The sheathing process takes about 1-4 weeks for a medium-sized structure. Weather conditions, the size of the building, the number of employees who will take part in the process can affect this period positively or negatively. Sheathing should not be performed under strong wind, fog or rainy weather conditions. The best time of application is when the outer surface and the ambient temperature are at least +5 degrees.

How to Maintain the Sheathing Mechanism:

In sheathing applications in old buildings, it is necessary to remove the antennas, signs, clotheshorses and airconditioning devices before the process. Since the basic principle of the mechanism is to cover all of the surface with heat insulation boards without leaving a single distance, it would be a better decision not to install/mount the abovementioned factors on the surface after sheathing. Again, in the old buildings, if it is planned to change wooden, metal or plastic elements of the structure or flats such as the doors, windows, wardrobes, shelves etc, the realization of this change before the sheathing will have an important effect in order not to damage the mechanism.

How the sheathing is applied:

Standard materials used in the sheathing application are as follows:

Thermal insulation board, Adhesive mortar, Thermal insulation plaster, Coating plaster suitable for decoration, Equipment net, Mechanical fixing dowel, pole profile, Seating profile, Dropper, Dilatation, Sill profile, Outdoor paint.

The sheathing process consists of seven steps. In order to obtain maximum performance from the application, each step must be performed by professional persons. These seven steps are as follows, respectively:

1-Arrangement of the surface

2-Positioning the Seating Profile

3-Bonding Sheathing Boards

4- Dowelling Sheathing Boards

5-Positioning of Pole Profiles

6-Meshed Plaster Process

7-Outdoor Coatings Suitable for Decoration and Outdoor Painting Process

The coating process is completed by applying colorless, pungent acid-effect outdoor paint on the exterior coating suitable for the decoration.
